PM, P.M. or Pre-Magi Revolution is the suffix added to dates before the Magi-Tech Revolution. While dates were reckoned with unique calendars throughout history for individual civilizations, the first unified calendar was instituted at signing and adoption of Atla’s Provincial Constitution of Freedom. The Trinity Trade Council was also formed during this time. Atla became a unified country, 95% of modern Feron and 35% of the archipelago all joined together under the treaty. In total 24 countries totaling 60% of the world’s population signed their admittance to the Trinity Council in the world’s single, largest sociopolitical act.

Before the Trinity Council was formed, most nations operated independently. Magi-Tech advancements were slow coming and infrequent. While global civilization had existed for thousands of years, the cumulative advancement of human civilization and Magi-Tech was surpassed in one century between 50PM and 50EM. Because of the generally slow and varied progress of humanity as a whole, especially when compared to the past 250 years, the time period was given the distinction of being ‘before’ the Magi Revolution. The PM dates span tens of thousands of years and countless advancements in civilization. Naming those years as such is not meant as derogatory or to minimize the importance of everything that came before the Trinity Council. Instead, it is meant more of a way to set apart the uniqueness of a global community, one that has never existed on Velwythe before.

The explosion of knowledge, understanding and progress in general ushered in what is known as the Era of Enlightenment. After the signing of the PCF the Trinity Council declared that that would be the final year of the old, separate calendar systems used across the world. On New Year’s Day the date would officially roll over to 1EM, named after the Enlightenment.

It is important to note that many different calendars existed before the Magi Revolution. However, for continuity and ease of understanding, dates prior to the Revolution are all reckoned backwards beginning with 1PM. The only time this rule is ignored is when specific historical accounts depend upon or are specifically related to a specific calendar system.
